Write Better Blog Posts with My New Book: Sticky Readers

When I’m not busy robbing little old ladies after helping them cross the street, you can often find me at my desk working on my latest writing project.

I know many of you hang on my every word, wishing you were me, wondering aloud in the drill bit section of your hardware store, “She is awesomeness wrapped in chocolatey goodness, surrounded by an unavoidable urge to pee. How does she do it?”

And so, my friends, I bring you tidings of great freakin’ joy when I say that I have finally published a book. I’ve decided I’m an expert in doing whatever the hell it is that I do here on Nanny Goats in Panties and have written a How To book so that you, too, can be as fabulous as I am. Or, rather, that your blog can be as fabulous as mine.

The book, published just this week, is called Sticky Readers: How to Attract a Loyal Blog Audience by Writing More Better. No I’m not kidding.

See? Here’s the cover.

Sticky Readers by Margaret Andrews, write better blog posts

I totally made this book cover myself. In the picture, those are my actual reading glasses, with an actual NGIP pen (of which some of you own yourselves) and an actual NGIP coffee mug-wow!-it’s like seeing my name up in lights on the Las Vegas Strip or something.

To be serious for a nanosecond, though, this book is geared toward all bloggers, but most especially personal bloggers, or bloggers who write personal anecdotes or stories on their blog.

There are a million How Tos out there already that concentrate on social media and SEO and monetizing and branding. At some point, though, they tell you that the most important thing is your content- that content is king. And they stop there.

My book, on the other hand, is an educational and entertaining way to help you improve the actual CONTENT of your blog. I’m trying to help people make their writing more engaging, more interesting, thereby attracting more readers.

Is this book any good, you ask? Redhead Ranting wrote a review of it in her blog post entitled: “I Almost Slept With Anthony Weiner While Reading Sticky Readers“.

It is currently available as a Kindle eBook and paperback. I am also taking requests for other formats.

Remember, you don’t need a Kindle device to read a Kindle eBook. You can install the Kindle app for free on your PC, or your iPhone or iPad, and download a purchased book to any of those devices. You can also download a free sample of my book before you buy it.

Also? If you or anyone you know would like me to speak on this topic, whether it’s an interview, guest post, or speaking engagement, I’m available! Just click on the “Contact” tab at the top of this blog.

Is that an actual NGIP Mac?

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

    LOL!

Why, yes. Yes it is. There is no doubt an actual coffee stain underneath it as well.

Congratulations! I would also like to add that there are Kindle apps for Blackberry and Android as well, not that you Mac people really care. :)

    Good to know. Thanks, Drew!

  • http://thegoodthebadtheworse.blogspot.com Linda Medrano

I guess I can get this from Amazon/for Kindle! Wow! This is fantastic! I’m really impressed.

  • http://injaynesworld.blogspot.com/ Jayne

Margaret, that is awesome! I don’t have a Kindle. I have the NookColor, but now that I know there’s a Kindle app for PC, I’ll download one. Although, I’d rather have your book in paperback because that cover is awesome. I have to talk to you about publishing on Amazon because I’m about 10 pages away from having a collection of essays ready to go. Did you use CreateSpace?

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

Thanks, Linda! Have you figured out your Kindle yet? Or have you just been smacking Alex with it?

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

Ask me anything you want to know now that I’ve suffered through it. The eBook was published through Kindle Desktop Publishing. The paperback will indeed be published via CreateSpace and I’m in the middle of that right now. That’s great that you’re almost ready to publish something too - yay! Look at us, all authorial and stuff.

  • http://thegoodthebadtheworse.blogspot.com Linda Medrano

Oh Lord, Margaret, I am now a Kindle Queen. I wouldn’t buy a book another way. I will order your book today. I’m really so impressed!

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

Ha! Linda, you crack me up! You disparaged poor Alex for getting you such a useless thing that you would never use. I love it!

  • http://pricillaspeaks.blogspot.com Pricilla

Excuse me while I squat and pee.
    Aaaaaah.

The publicist says I cannot have your book I will only eat it.
I am bummed but she is right.
She says she has a nook and the the nook and the kindle don’t talk to one another.
    She is bummed.

I also eat all her money.

ME, ME!! I want to be awesomeness wrapped in chocolatey goodness, surrounded by an unavoidable urge to pee. Although I think I’d probably end up being weirdness wrapped in cheesy stickiness, surrounded by an unavoidable urge to ….

Well, let’s just say, I’m no Margaret Andrews!!

Congratulations, Margaret. That is amazing and incredible and fantastic and all other wonderful adjectives. I’m downloading the Kindle app now, but please let us know when the paperback version is available. I will definitely be purchasing a copy, and I hope one day very soon, I’ll be able to have it signed by the author. :-)

  • http://www.weworkforcheese.com/2011/06/cheese-waffles/ Nicky

Ok, I just want to add that I’m on Chapter 4 and I must take issue. I have to apologize. I’m Canadian. It’s in our DNA!! :-)

  • http://www.redheadranting.com/ redheadranting

I’m trying to buy this but it keeps telling me I need to register my Kindle app for iPad. I don’t know how to do that, do you? Would I be better off buying it through the Kindle app?

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

What’s in Chapter 4? Oh, yes, the part about not apologizing. Wow! Thanks for reading it Nicky! I’ll bet you’ll be the first one to finish it!

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

I don’t know how to register a Kindle app for iPad. Hmmm….there’s an FAQ page about Kindle for iPad here that talks about registering the Kindle app with your Amazon account if this helps: http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=200298460

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

Oh! ME ME!!! I want to be weirdness wrapped in cheesy stickiness, surrounded by an unavoidable urge to ….

    I’ll trade you. :)

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

OK, I found another page that may help. Some guy says, “I think this question usually comes up when people are trying to
register online. You need to register from the within app on the device
itself. When you open it, it should walk you through this. You will
need an Amazon account, of course, but if you can post you already have
    that.” From this page: http://www.amazon.com/forum/kindle?_encoding=UTF8&cdForum=Fx1D7SY3BVSESG&cdThread=Tx15KXWKBHEPEQ9

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

You are one hungry goat, my dear! :)

  • http://www.redheadranting.com/ redheadranting

I have an account but I think it’s pulling up an old one and that’s why it’s
all fubarred up. I’m going to get it from the app. Of course I got all
distracted trying to get the widget for you book on Redhead Ranting and
Tribal Blogs. I can’t figure out how to center the damn thing. Gah!!!!! I
think I will just write a post about it and leave it up there for a few
    weeks or something.

  • http://www.redheadranting.com/ redheadranting

I got it! I got it!!! And it was sent right to my device, I didn’t have to do a damn thing! This is so cool. Now will you write a guest post on using the amazon publishing for TB? I’m going to read this and be one of the first ones to review it on Amazon.

  • http://www.liveblogtoday.com SP

I feel like the odd goat out here… I didn’t congratulate you. My apologies. Congratulations and celebrations(Cliff Richard) … !!

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

Yay! And I know we already agreed I would guest post an excerpt from the book for TB. Let me think about how to write a post about Kindle Publishing as well. Something useful AND informative.

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

That’s OK, SP. It wasn’t a requirement or anything. But now that you’ve gone and done it….THANKS!

  • http://www.redheadranting.com/ redheadranting

You mentioned Tribal Blogs!!!! You didn’t give a link but YOU MENTIONED
    TRIBAL BLOGS!!!! Thank you!!!

  • Anonymous

Gee, I know that pen. It’s the one I use to do the NY Times Sunday crosswords. It lives in the smallest room of my house!

  • http://www.facebook.com/Aka.Queen.Mab Kelli Clifford

Yay! My sample is downloaded and I am on my way to purchasing the whole book! Congratulations- I a very excited for you :)

  • http://www.absolutelynarcissism.com Sandra

Ok, I want this book! But I want paperback so I can carry it in my purse, and tell people, “I know the lovely lady who wrote it.” I won’t mention that I don’t “know” know you…I’m getting my wallet!

  • http://www.absolutelynarcissism.com Sandra

Oh and congrats! How could I forget to congratulate you! I think this is fantastic! I will promote on my blog if you want. I think you’ve struck a gold mine with this topic!

  • http://www.tanzaniafivetimes.blogspot.com Barbara

Linda, I’m happy to hear you say that. I am a Kindle queen, too, and it lets me carry 300 books to Tanzania with me and then buy more while I’m still there so I never have to run out of books like I did back in the Peace Corps in 1982 (for me, a fate worth than death). I think I’m going to Kindle Margaret’s book, too. Her blog is so funny I’m sure I can learn something!! When are you going to write a book-because your blog is so funny, too…

  • http://thegoodthebadtheworse.blogspot.com Linda Medrano

Barbara! I didn’t realize how this would free me up and even save me millions in doctor bills. When I traveled to Europe, I carried about 50 pounds worth of books with me, scared to death I would run out. The house i live in is 11 rooms and each and every one of them has tons and tons of books in them. Under the house we have a full basement lined with bookshelves that number in the thousands. I’m free praise the Lord, I’m free! Kindle has changed my life! And to think I was afraid of it! You can teach an old bitch new tricks, Darling!

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

    :)
(note to self: add link to Tribal Blogs in 2nd edition of eBook)

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

Thank you, Kelli! And thank you for your future purchase! :)

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

I’m working as fast as I can, Sandra. I’m hoping it will be available in less than 3 weeks.

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

Thank you! I hope you’re right about striking gold. I see and hear more about the social media aspect rather than the writing aspect. But learning how to write better can be such a chore and I was trying for an entertaining approach to make it easier. I mean, how boring is English class? Blech.

And I would love nothing more than your promotion of it. If you want a guest post or do a funny interview with me (because I think the two of us would wreak hilarious havoc over there), whatever you want. But I’m also perfectly happy with a mere mention on your blog.

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

I swear, Linda, Amazon should be paying you for this kind of endorsement!

Next, you’ll be singing the praises of the iPad!

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

OMG! I totally forgot to link up for buying through the UK and Germany! If you’re able to get this book all the way in Tasmania, please let me know!!

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

Nicky! I just realized you’re in Canada and I didn’t know if it would be available there because Amazon went on about how there were separate links for the UK and Germany and nowhere else. But then I thought if Kindle owners were wandering around Australia that they were supposed to be able to buy books there, if they had the international Kindle. So did you buy it from your Kindle? Or did you get it thru the US site or Amazon Canada? Inquiring minds, woman!

  • GeorgiaB

Congrats on your book - very cool!

  • Slommler

Gee! I don’t know what to say! I am verklemped!!! Oh and congratulations!!
    Hugs
    SueAnn

  • http://beetle-blog.com/ babs (beetle)

Congratulations Margaret! I don’t appear to be able to buy it though. It’s for the US only and we in the UK can’t buy from Amazon.com. Maybe you can look into that?

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

    Thanks, Georgia!

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

Thanks, SueAnn! And hugs back to you. :)

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

As a matter of fact, I did look into it and added an update for the UK link to the bottom of my post. But here it is again. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0055IMOIS

If you do end up getting it, please let me know, because I think you’d be the first one from the UK and I want to make sure it works.

  • http://beetle-blog.com/ babs (beetle)

I bought it, after downloading the Kindle for Mac app. It went very smoothly :)

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

Excellent! Thank you Babs! I hope you enjoy it!

  • Bobbi Olson

Congratulations! I’m going to look for it on my kindle app right now!

  • http://www.absolutelynarcissism.com Sandra

Whatever your genius minds wants, I’m up for! I think a back and forth interview would be hilarious! And yes, get me that paperback! So I guess going on Amazon won’t be me the paperback, only the kind on Kindle?

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

Thanks, Bobbi! Here’s hoping you find it!

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

Yeah, right now it’s just the Kindle. I will let you know when the paperback is available and then we can romp on your blog! And are you in Canada? I’m still trying to figure out the Amazon Canadian thing.

Congratulations! Kindle is the topic of the week here at my place. I spent about 40 hours prepping my novel, The Somebody Who, for Kindle (I was starting with a pdf, so it required a whole lot of reformatting). I am so glad to have that learning curve behind me. It’s truly amazing what technology allows us to do.

Nice going, Margaret! So proud of you. Are you proud of you? You should be. I got the sample and will read it on a little road trip today. Everyone should stay far away from my car while I’m reading because it’s hard to drive and read at the same time.

  • http://www.tanzaniafivetimes.blogspot.com Barbara

So… Tanzania and Tasmania are on different continents (Africa and Australia-well, Tasmania is next to Australia, I guess, more than on it). And I’m actually in Utah right now, where I downloaded your book, and have already read it and really enjoyed it. But, with a Kindle that has 3G, you can download a book anywhere in the world (well, there are probably some places you can’t). I’ve been downloading books in Tanzania, and will again after I return in a few days. It works through local phone companies cell phone networks, I think. But that’s for people with an American credit card. I guess Europeans without American credit cards would need a special link!

  • Yourpalpinki

Yay this is super exciting, Margaret!!! Congratulations!!! Woo Hoo!!!

  • Yourpalpinki

I did it! I did it! I bought your book and downloaded to my Pc Kindle. Now I won’t be doing anything except for reading your book, oh and Pride and Predjudice-it came with the Kindle download-but mostly your book! This is soooo cool. Thank you!

My goodness-you ARE awesomeness itself. I’ve never gotten so many comments on a post in my life. I want chocolatey goodness AND I’m forwarding a friend to you who wants to know how to publish digitally.

Sadly for me, I have a nook, but I do still have eyes, so I can get the paperback version and add it to my teetering tower of “must-read” books. Thanks!

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

Thank you, Ann! On my To Do List is to figure out how to get this thing upon the Nook. But first, I have 5 million thing to do. But I will get to it, by Golly! Especially if a bunch of Nook people start requesting it.
