Doctor Who: A TARDIS Graduation Party

If you’re ever invited to a graduation party with a Doctor Who theme, here’s what the present should look like:

TARDIS cake, TARDIS gifts, doctor who party, TARDIS party

No, it’s not the Empire State Building, you ninny. It’s a gift wrapped up like the TARDIS.

And yes, it’s bigger on the inside.

After we arrived at the party, the hosts announced that we would be eating the cake first. And fast. Although I’m not sure why…

TARDIS cake, TARDIS gifts, doctor who party, TARDIS party

The Leaning Tower of TARDIS

This, too, was bigger on the inside.

I believe this cake was a scene from the opening theme of Doctor Who where you see the Tesla coils zapping the TARDIS as it spins around on a 30% axis traveling through time and space.

I, for one, was highly impressed at how this look was accomplished. I defy any cake boss to top it.

As you can imagine, this party was packed to the gills with teenagers. And I’m sure the cake as first course had nothing to do with the subsequent freewheeling and raucous teenage party activities.

teenage pileup

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz......

And with the way teenagers eat, you KNOW they’re bigger on the inside.

Doctor Who fan, are we, Jan?

  • http://beetle-blog.com/ babs (beetle)

Ha ha! Would you believe Dr Who is on our TV right now!
Maybe they’re not asleep, but have all been zapped by the enemy.

I am a huge Dr. Who fan so I love this!!! With my luck when I have kids they will like something stupid and want to have a Hannah Montana party or something. I might die a little inside if it happens.

  • http://pricillaspeaks.blogspot.com Pricilla

The crash after the Tardis sugar high is always a bad one….

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

Yes I would believe that. Over here, we are drowning in Doctor Who on BBC America. Typical American TV programming, which is if they see we like something, they make 47 billion clones and shove it down our throats until we’re so sick of it we want to kill it. I’m waiting the lame ass with the “bright idea” to make another failed American attempt at a British TV hit show and start producing the American version of Doctor Who. Can you imagine? ick. That would be like American Catholics deciding to have their own Pope in the U.S.

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

Hannah Montana - ha!! Oh, you poor thing, I feel sorry for you already.

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

True, true. The poor kids. Although it was kind of quiet there for a minute.

  • http://beetle-blog.com/ babs (beetle)

Oh they only show us enough to keep us waiting eagerly for the next series. That was the last one until autumn for us. An American pope? The mind boggles.

  • Yourpalpinki

I am so happy you guys were here! Good times.
PS…the teenagers didn’t go to sleep until after 6am this morning. The after party was one wild ride…

Hahahaha! Bigger on the inside! I wonder how many people get that! That and the fact that you said “30% axis” just made my day! Rock on, goat girl! :)

  • Yourpalpinki

Junebug, thanks for reminding us how lucky we are to have kids who like cool stuff.
    Hannah Montana…Ack! lol

  • Bobbi Olson

I have never seen Doctor Who and have no clue what a Tardis is or what it means.
    It sounds dirty though…

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

And that’s another thing. BBC America hasn’t shown the last one yet. That’s this weekend.

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

6am?? Yikes! We had fun and look forward to hanging out with you guys again!

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

Yeah, I’m afraid there’s a bit of inside references in this post, but I hope even people who haven’t watched it still may know what a TARDIS is, even if they’re not aware of the “bigger on the inside” aspect of it.

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

Ha! The TARDIS is Doctor Who’s time traveling spaceship and it’s…bigger on the inside. Like a spaceship, all crammed into a police box. Nevertheless, even if some people might not know what a TARDIS is, I still wanted to show a blue cake. I should have taken a picture of people’s tongues after they ate it. :)

That is the coolest Graduation party EVER!!!

  • Stimey

This is the best. I wish I knew what was inside that present.

own Pope in the US :)

This doctor is too young. I like the old Dr. Who with the old doctor.

  • http://www.weworkforcheese.com Nicky

That’s hysterical! My teens are bigger on the inside too. And they all crash on the floor with their friends like that, as well!

  • http://twitter.com/lafemmeroar lafemmeroar

I’m curious about the cake. What flavor was it? I don’t mind being bigger on the inside so long as I can still look svelte on the outside. The cake looks yummy :)

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

But which one, SP? Aren’t there, like, 9 old doctors?

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

    Spoilers!
Okay, actually they weren’t things like sonic screwdrivers or a frackenator.

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

(Sigh) Ah, to be only bigger on the inside…

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

I keep hearing they eat a lot and sleep a lot. :)

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

It was a lot of fun! (I almost said thanks, but it wasn’t my party, it was my pal pinky’s. Or, her kid’s, rather.

  • Musicalrice

My school was TARDIS, so it was only logical to make my party Doctor Who :D

  • http://injaynesworld.blogspot.com/ Jayne

Well, clearly I need to rent “Doctor Who.” I’m sure I saw it, but that was long, long ago and far, far away in the land known as my youth.

  • http://jbear.me J. Bear Savo

Funny, because as much of a Star Wars, Star Trek, Firefly, and (recently) Battlestar Galactica geek that I am, I know nothing about Dr. Who. I have never watched an episode of Dr. Who, new or vintage.

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

Your school was TARDIS? How did that work? I mean, was your classroom a blue box?

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

Oh yes, Jayne. This is the new and improved Doctor Who. Even Netflix rates it higher than the old stuff. It’s just fun and the storylines are complicated and well thought out and puzzling. And it’s nice to watch something fun that isn’t all about sex or violence. It’s not often you get a PG-rated show that is also engaging for adults. It’s like a Saturday morning adventure show, but with a way bigger budget.

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

I’m not much of a Sci-Fi fan at all, although I did watch (and LOVED) Firefly. And I was into Star Trek Next Generation. And I did watch Star Trek as a kid. But I wasn’t a Stars Wars fan and I’m still trying to watch the new BSG, but can’t get into it enough to keep watching. That one scientist guy with the tall horny blonde chick drives me up the wall. Anyway, the thing about Dr Who is the energy of the characters and the intricate puzzle-like storytelling.

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

    So are you! :)

  • http://mommamiameaculpa.com meleahrebeccah

    Aw, shucks!

  • http://injaynesworld.blogspot.com/ Jayne

Oh. I know nothing about this new show. I thought you were talking about the original “Doctor Who.” When/where is it on?

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

It’s on BBC America, if you get that channel where you are. Which is one more thing I forgot to mention why it’s so awesome. It’s British. Which for some reason for me makes everything better, so keep that in mind as I’m a little biased in the Anglophile department. Instead of trying to catch the current season, you may want to start with Season 1 via DVD.

I am amazed that “those young whipper snappers” know who Dr. Who IS! :) COOL!

  • http://www.roses2rainbows.com Linda R.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz……That’s what happens when you run smack dab into a wall of sugar.

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

“young whipper snappers” - HA!! Actually it’s all the rage with kids right now. Not sure how many of them are into the old doctors, but the new ones? They’re hip, man.

  • http://www.nannygoatsinpanties.com/ Margaret (nannygoats)

    :)

  • http://thinkspin.blogspot.com Lauren

Congratulations! Love it! I’m a huge Dr. Who fan. Tomorrow night is the finale before the summer break.

That is the coolest friggin cake. You want it to be bigger on the inside. It’s the gift that keeps on coming. Love the group shot. Too much cake or cake chaser?
