When the Canadian Prime Minister called me last Tuesday, I didn’t stop to ask how he was doing - I just launched into how upset I was that the original members of Barenaked Ladies should get back together so I could get on with my life and he kept whining about global affairs and how I could save his country from utter morale breakdown and a park squirrel bit him and blah blah blah. In retrospect, I guess I could have handled it better. Maybe I should call him back.

Anyway, you may or may not recall that I am an American Musical Idiot. My husband, Mr. MudPuppy, on the other hand, is an audiophile. He does that “critical listening” thing, going beyond the melody and the words to the sound production and quality. I think he should be writing music reviews for a living. He’s done a bit of it on his blog, Mr. MudPuppy’s Metal Mud Puddle already, so you know, if you know anybody on Rolling Stones’ editorial board…

But enough about Mr. MudPuppy. Let’s talk about his iPod. He has loaded a few songs on it. And for some silly reason, we’ve decided to have a contest where you have to guess how many songs are loaded on it as of when I took a picture of the screen that shows that total..

So that’s it. You can guess once and you can do it in the comment section. The contest will end at 11:59pm on Wednesday night, September 29, 2010. Whoever guesses the closest number wins a $25 Amazon.com gift card. Anybody in the world can enter, as long as you have access to an Amazon online store.

    I have no idea how many songs an Ipod holds because I still listen to songs on the CEE DEE player. So I will venture a guess at 610.

    However please let Mr. MP know that I did see Metallica/GNR/STP in concert in 1992 and saw a guy get a massive skull laceration from a flying plastic beer mug because Axl Rose would not come on stage and the crowd went wonky. All was set to rights when the cameras started scanning the crowd and gratuitous boobies were flashed in order to calm 25,000 17 to 25 year old Metallica fans. Mine not included. Thank you.

    I’m just saying I should get extra credit for that.

    I just figured out how to put my songs BACK on my Ipod after I dumped them inadvertantly. So let’s see Mr. Mudpuppy has 7,652 songs on his Ipod. I know this because I have exactly that same amount less 7,600. I have really good songs too like Mr. Sandman by the Lennon Sisters and the Hokey Pokey song. :-) I win right?

    Oh it had nothing to do with class. When I was 22 I was 5’9″ and weighed 98 pounds. If I had lifted up my shirt the crowd would have been like why is that slightly effeminate little malnourished boy showing us his chest? It would have just added to the confusion.

    I believe you struggled, I can tell by your answer. There was someone who struggled during one of my previous contests where I had people guess how much money was in a jar and somebody went to great lengths and spent entirely too much time trying to figure it out and even admitted it and I may have to go back and make sure it wasn’t you. :)

    Hmm, that’s a tough one as I don’t own and iPod and have no idea what the capacity of those things are, but since you’re making a “thing” of it, I’m guessing it has to be a LOT more than the average bear. So, I’m going to guess 3,333, which seems like a lot of songs to me. However, if Mister Mudpuppy only has like 333 songs, he’s going to feel terribly inadequate…
